MISSION TRIP TO HELSINKI & STOCKHOLM!

As Community Church Bishop's Stortford has grown, so too have our leadership, staffing and volunteering teams. Together they care deeply about seeing God impact the church, the wider community and the nations.
Although the church is led by local leaders, we believe that relationships with other churches are important, both in the town and more widely. We’re part of Relational Mission, a network of churches working together to impact our localities, both in this country and in Europe, Canada and Asia. Relational Mission is part of Newfrontiers, “a group of apostolic leaders, who, together with our teams and churches, are united on global mission by core values and genuine relationship”.
The leadership team works closely with the elders and is responsible for leading the church towards the vision God has given us.
Leadership Team Responsibilities:
The church is overseen by a team of elders currently consisting of Peter, Colin, Ewan and Gareth.
Peter is married to Angela with two grown up daughters. Having become a full-time church leader in 1987, he became senior leader of the team here in 1991. He also supports the wider Relational Mission sphere of churches both regionally and internationally. He and Angela enjoy spending time working together in serving the churches and in their spare time love to get away to the coast or the hills in their camper van.
Colin joined the eldership team in December 2005 after working for many large organisations specialising in project and change management processes. He is a member of the association of Christian Counsellors and oversees prayer Ministry and pastoral care closely working with Jenny, his wife. They love spending time together with people, supporting and praying for them.
Ewan joined CCBS in 1999 and the eldership team in 2012. He was part of the staff team for many years, heading up the worship team and all things media and production at CCBS, but other commitments have meant he has had to put this role down for a while. He is married to Katherine (who is our resident graphic designer).
Gareth is married to Nicola and together they have two children, Ben & Jaiya. Gareth was previously an elder at the church between 2004 - 2007. In 2007 the whole family moved to China, where for 8 years they followed God's call to plant churches in a largely unreached area. Now, back on the leadership team, Gareth heads up the small-group and discipleship life of the church, oversees the children's work teams, and preaches regularly. He loves to keep fit and drink coffee... at the same time if possible!
The trustees serve the church and the elders in financial and legal matters and are accountable to The Charity Commission. Our registered charity number is 288340 and registered address is The Charis Centre, Water Lane, Bishops Stortford, CM23 2JZ.
