When Will was 6 months old, we realised he had serious food allergies. Following tests, we found that he was severely allergic to all nuts, eggs and shellfish. He has had to carry epipens with him wherever he goes as his allergies could be fatal.
At the age of 3, his allergic reactions had become worse. The hospitals run something called ‘The Challenge’ - this is when a series of foods are tested during a stay in hospital under close medical supervision. Wills allergic reactions were so severe that they said that he was not even eligible for this test! We were told he would never be able to eat nuts, egg or shellfish. This seriously impacts his & our freedom in every day life.
When Will has had the skin prick test, the circumference of the reactions measures around 13mm. This represents severe anaphylaxis. But this year we, and several others, have been praying for God to breakthrough, and remarkably his reaction measurements have dramatically decreased to the following:
Nuts: 13mm down to 7mm
Egg: 14mm down to 3mm
Shellfish: 10mm down to 2mm.
The doctor (a specialist in allergies) couldn’t believe it and told us that he’d never seen this sort of reduction before. Will recently has had further blood tests and we are now praying that there will be enough medical confidence in his healing that he will be allowed to go through ‘The Challenge” in hospital and begin experiencing much more freedom in his diet.
God can do anything!
