We’re mid-way through the Month of Mission and we thought it was a good time for a half-time team talk!
We’ve seen some great things already this month as we’ve looked at science and Christianity, why God allows suffering and this Sunday I am preaching on God and sex. We’ve seen guests at the curry night last weekend and church members on the streets of Bishops Stortford sharing the good news of Jesus to the town.
As I reflected on the month so far I was reminded of Nehemiah 3, a chapter which is full of different people, tribes and families being given different roles and responsibilities in the rebuilding of Gods Temple. As I re-read it this morning two things struck me; firstly that God calls us to build His house, even in the midst of a culture that worships other gods and secondly that He calls us to do this in community, as a team.
This is a timeless principle for us as a New Testament church as 1 Corinthians 3 declares that we are ‘Co-workers with God to build His Church.’
I want to encourage us and remind us that we are on this mission together, a mission to build a church that displays Gods splendour, where God loves to be, and where lives are changed by meeting Him!
As the Apostle Paul encourages us in Philippians 3 “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Let's keep going this month, seeking to inviting and pray for friends, families and neighbours to join us on this mission.
See you Sunday!
