Al Stroud
Elder
Al is married to Jane and together they have four children. With approximately 20 years of experience in the electronic components industry, Al combines his significant leadership abilities with a wise & pastoral heart that beats to see broken lives restored. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, running, and cycling.
Gareth McCormick
Elder
Gareth is married to Nicola and together they have two teenage children. As a family they have spent more than 10 years as missionaries overseas in largely unreached areas of Central Asia. Their feet are now back on UK soil, but their hearts continue to burn for people of every nation to encounter Jesus. Gareth loves to keep fit, drink coffee, and eat spicy food… at the same time if possible!
Jane Stroud
Administration
Jane is married to Al and together they have four children. At CCBS she oversees the safeguarding administration along with governance and compliance. Jane loves running, baking cakes, hosting meals and organising events. She has a wonderful pastoral heart and loves to support and help others.
Tom Amos
Youth & Young Adults Ministry Leader
Tom is our Youth & Young Adults Ministry Lead. He is married to Noël and loves movies, theology and fantasy football. Tom has a wide range of experience in both ministry and young people, having worked for a number of years as a team leader in an SEN charity and travelled to Redding, California for three years to do BSSM. Tom also has a theology degree and get him talking on any sort of related subject it can be difficult to get him to stop!
Susan Ash
Children & Young Families Ministry Leader
Susan’s energy & passion for children can be seen in everything she does! She leads our Sunday Supergang ministry, catering for our infants & junior school-aged members, and also co-ordinates activities which seek to connect young families in our community with the love of Jesus. In her spare time Susan helps to lead our Gospel Choir and is also part of our Sound & Lighting team.
Paul Corcoran
Caretaker
Paul makes sure everything at the Charis Centre is where it should be! A former business manager for a large banking concern, Paul is enjoying the quieter life and spends his spare time as a river warden for Essex Wildlife Trust. He is also a keen sports fan and avidly follows his team – Colchester United – around the country.
Ali Mansfield
Finance
Ali keeps us afloat by looking after all the financial aspects of church life. She now lives in Suffolk, but continues to travel back for work. We love Ali’s generous nature, pastoral and wise counsel and she is also a great cook! Ali has three grown up children, 2 horses and a dog to keep her busy (muddy!)Meet our Trustees
Our trustees play a vital role in guiding and safeguarding the mission of CCBS. Trustees have the overall responsibility for governance, effective management, and for stewarding resources responsibly. Working as a team, they ensure that CCBS meets it’s legal, financial and charity status obligations. Through this oversight, accountability and support, our trustees help to ensure that our church can grow, thrive and serve the community.
Nick Smith
Nick has a specific responsibility for health & safety and oversees our policies and practices to ensure that we maintain a safe building. Ensuring legal compliance with all health & safety laws, identifying and managing risks and promoting safe practices, all help to ensure that we maintain a safe and secure environment within CCBS. David Ovonlen
Finance
As finance trustee, David has responsibility for monitoring the income and expenditure of our church finances, ensuring responsible budgeting, accounting and compliance with all financial regulations and sound financial decision making. To contact David email: trustee2@thecommunitychurch.org.uk
Jody Salmon
Safeguarding
With the particular area of safeguarding, Jody has responsibility for promoting safeguarding training, ensuring legal compliance and acting as a contact for concerns to ensure that CCBS remains a safe and secure environment and a place where everybody feels loved, looked after and valued.
